Why do you think some consumers will pay 40000 or more for an off-road vehicle that 90 percent of them will never take off-road?

Why do you think some consumers will pay 40000 or more for an off-road vehicle that 90 percent of them will never take off-road?
Many possible reasons:

--for better traction in slippery conditions.
--for a better view down the road, because such vehicles are oftenhigher off the ground.
--for feeling safer in an accident because they're surrounded by abigger, heavier vehicle.
--for more seating and/or storage capacity, especially sincetraditional full size station wagons have disappeared.
--for showing off to the neighbors.
--for demonstrating to everyone else that they have enough money tobuy expensive vehicles.
--for making many visits to gas stations, which also frequentlyhave excellent collections of junk food for sale.
- because you know that everyone else will think you're the kind ofperson that does go off road for adventure and you crave anonymousenvy. Just like wearing a team sweatshirt will make everyone thinkyou are/were an athlete.
