Can a judge refuse to give me a court date because I am representing myself and cannot afford a lawyer?
Answer
You must follow all court rules (both Texas rules and the rules of the local court) as if you had a lawyer. I would guess that you did not do so. There is no authority for a judge simply not to set a final trial. If this is an enforcement case involving contempt, then the judge will go to extremes to see that you are represented or warned of the folly of self-representation.
