Question

My adopted son is turning 18 the end of june . my wife has filed for legal seperation . we live in ct . she has placed an order with the court for college support. Does this order apply for CT only or can he go else where

Answer

He can go anywhere, but the law in CT says the court can order only an amount up to the cost of an in-state student at UCONN at Storrs, after accounting for loans, grants and scholarships. So, if he goes to Princeton, they can make you pay only for UCONN.

Answer

He can go anywhere. However, you both have to testify that if you were an intact family, you would have paid for all or a portion of his college.
