What processes must a book go threw?

What processes must a book go threw?
The book publishing process is complex.
First, a book must be introduced to a publisher. This can happen one of two ways:

1)A book is sent to a publisher. This script is then placed into a pile, where it is read (eventually) and then either
a) Approved, and the author is notified.
b) Rejected, and the author is notified.
2)A book is introduced by an agent. The agent publicises the script and tries to get the comapny to apporve it. This does not always work, but it helps considerably.

Once a book is approved, it goes through editing. This can take a very long time, depending on the editor and author.

After this is finished, the book is published. How and when the book is distributed however, depends on the company, stores, etc.
