Can you change a 1983 302 with a 400 modified?

Can you change a 1983 302 with a 400 modified?
Only if you swap out the transmission also. The 302 uses the small block bellhousing and the 400M uses the 351M, 400M 429, 460 bellhousing. Hope this helps..
