Question

My boyfriend received a "Social Host" misdemeanor charge and he is due in court within the next 10 days. What should he expect? He is not the owner of the house, and there are also 5 other renters who live there who were all present at the party, but he was the only one to get the ticket.

Answer

None of that negates the charges against him. He must have done something very offensive to the arresting officers for him to charged with a crime. He needs to see if he can get a public defender and get the charge reduced to an infraction that will be dismissed after a certain period of time. He should not plead guilty. But why is he not asking the question himself and waiting until until less than two weeks for his initial appearance? He does not appear to be taking this very seriously.
