State of CA, Convicted of murder in 2000. Plead not guilty. Sentence of Life without parole. Is the Alford plea something to look into?
Answer
An Alford plea is a guilty plea where a defendant does not admit the act and asserts innocence. The plea, however, admits that sufficient evidence exists for a jury to convict the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt.
It is irrelevant at this stage, because you plead not guilty and then were convicted.
