Would battery powered cars solve the problem of a possible shortage of petrol in the future?
Not necessarily. The electricity to charge the batteries must come from somewhere. It is produced in power plants which use natural gas, coal, oil, water, and nuclear power to produce the electricity to charge those batteries. Besides who says there's going be a shortage of petrol in the future. New supplies of oil are found all the time. No one knows how long our supply of oil could last. It could last for thousands of years. Some even believe new oil is being produced by the earth all the time.
