I'm in florida. got a subpoena to go to ny to testify for grand jury...do I have to go?
Answer
Yes, unless you can provide legitimate reasons why you shouldn't such as a hardship, disability, or other possibilities.
Answer
The person issuing the subpoena would have to release you from it, otherwise you can be compelled to testify. However given the distance, I believe they will have to pay your travel expenses. In some situations you can testify from a remote location without having to travel.
