Question

Is there a way that custody papers can be filed by the parties involved without spending tons of money to hire a lawyer?? My husbands 13 yr old is moving with us this summer, and her mom is in agreement, so we just need to adjust some things in the papers, and file them, but the lawyer wants 750. Ive heard you can do it cheaper.

Answer

$750 for an agreed motion to modify is actually a fair price.

Do you know how to draft a motion for modification? Can you draft a waiver of service of citation? Can you draft a final order that will be acceptable to the Judge?

The reason that lawyers are so expensive is that they are worth it.
