Where is Wilson Foods Corporation of Oklahoma now located?
Answer Wilson Foods Corporation Wilson Foods Corporation, formally on Lincoln Blvd in Oklahoma City closed in the 1990's. About the only thing left is the brand name with the old Bar W label on some hams manufactured in the mid-west.They went through Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1983 or 84, sold off the subsidiary Fischer Packing Company, Louisville, KY to a French food company in the mid-80's, and had been closing or closed most of it's pork slaughtering and processing facilities. The Oklahoma City, OK; Albert Lea, MN; Cherokee, IA; Des Moines, IA; Loganport, IN and some other plants were reduced and closed during that same time, if my memory serves me correctly. Many of the older plants slaughtered and processed hogs, cattle and in some sheep, but other than hogs the rest disappeared in the early 1980's. The plant in Marshall, MO was closed in the early 1990's.There were some small "sausage plants", such as one in Sedalia, MO that made pizza toppings.I worked at the Oklahoma City plant in 1979-80; Fischer Packing company in 1980 and 1983 - 89, and the Marshall, MO plant from 1980-1983.The Wilson Foods corporate offices located in Oklahoma City later became the corporate offices of Foodbrands America, a subsidiary of IBP. IBP was later acquired by Tyson Foods, Inc. and the Oklahoma City office was subsequently closed.
