Question

My contract states that there are no refunds on deposits. My client (or previous client) wants a refund on a project she made a deposit on, and is now leaving halfway through because she disliked my work. She's threatening to get lawyers involved over $600. Because my contract says no refund, she can't do anything, correct?

Answer

Wrong - she can always hire lawyers or sue. As far as the validity of the contract, it would require a review of the actual documents. Until she actually does something, it is not an issue.

Answer

No. Anyone can sue. If you have contracts hopefully they were drafted by a lawyer and your lawyer can answer you. If you drew it up yourself, you can worry more. If you have questions, only someone who has read the contract can answer.
